Gas golf cart won't crank: starter-generator belt and brushes
Teilen
Applies to: EZGO TXT and RXV gas, and other carts with a starter-generator
Symptoms
- Press the pedal, nothing happens or just a click
- Battery goes flat while driving
- Squeal from the engine compartment
Why it happens
One unit both starts the engine and charges the battery through a belt. A loose belt, worn brushes, a bad solenoid or a weak battery stop it cranking and charging.
How to fix it
- Check the 12V battery voltage and terminals.
- Check belt tension and condition.
- Listen for the solenoid click; test voltage across it.
- Inspect starter-generator brushes and the voltage regulator.
Tools and parts
- Multimeter
- Drive belt
- Brush kit or solenoid
