Indian Scout running hot in traffic: fan and coolant
Teilen
Applies to: Indian Scout, Scout Bobber and other liquid-cooled cruisers
Symptoms
- Temperature climbs in stop-and-go traffic
- Fan runs constantly or not at all
- Heat on the rider's legs
Why it happens
At low speed the bike relies on its fan. A failed fan, fan relay or sensor, low coolant or a radiator full of bugs lets it overheat.
How to fix it
- Check coolant level with the engine cold.
- Clean bugs and debris from the radiator.
- Confirm the fan switches on at the manual's temperature.
- Test the fan relay and coolant temperature sensor.
Tools and parts
- Coolant
- Multimeter
- Soft brush
