John Deere Gator won't crank: neutral and brake switches
Teilen
Applies to: John Deere Gator HPX gas and diesel
Symptoms
- Key on, dash lights, but no crank
- Starts only in one shifter position
- Intermittent no-start that comes and goes
Why it happens
The Gator won't crank unless it sees neutral and, on many models, the park brake. A worn neutral switch, a mis-adjusted shift cable or a corroded start relay blocks cranking.
How to fix it
- Check the battery and clean the terminals.
- Rock the shifter firmly into neutral and try again.
- Test the neutral switch for continuity in neutral.
- Check the start relay and fuse, then the shift cable adjustment.
Tools and parts
- Multimeter
- Neutral switch or relay
