KTM won't restart when hot: battery and starter
Teilen
Applies to: KTM 350 EXC-F, SX-F and other electric-start KTMs
Symptoms
- Starts fine cold, cranks slowly or not at all when hot
- Clicks or groans on the button after a stall
- Battery reads OK at rest
Why it happens
The small lithium or AGM battery loses capacity, and a hot starter draws more current. Loose battery or ground connections make it worse.
How to fix it
- Load-test the battery; replace if it drops below spec when cranking.
- Clean and tighten battery, starter and ground connections.
- Check the starter relay contacts.
- Inspect the starter brushes per the manual if the battery is good.
Tools and parts

- Battery
- Starter brushes
