Older Arctic Cat sled won't idle: carbs and pulse fuel pump
Compartir
Applies to: Arctic Cat Thundercat, ZR, ZL, Panther and Bearcat carbureted sleds
Symptoms
- Won't idle without choke
- Bogs or dies off idle
- Fuel bowls empty after sitting
Why it happens
Stale fuel clogs the carb pilot jets, and the pulse-driven fuel pump diaphragm stiffens or cracks with age, so fuel delivery drops at low RPM.
How to fix it
- Drain old fuel and refill fresh.
- Inspect fuel and pulse lines for cracks.
- Rebuild the fuel pump with a new diaphragm kit.
- Clean the carbs and set float height and pilot screws per the manual.
