Can-Am Commander battery drain or sudden power loss: 50A fuse and charging
Compartir
Applies to: Can-Am Commander 800R, 1000, DPS/XT and HD10
Symptoms
- Everything goes dead while riding
- Battery flat after a few days
- Dash flickers, then resets
Why it happens
A blown or loose main fusible link (50A on many models) cuts all power. A failing stator or voltage regulator stops charging, so the battery runs down.
How to fix it
- Check the main 50A fuse or fusible link and its terminals.
- Check battery voltage at rest and at about 3000 rpm (13.5-14.5 V is normal).
- Test stator output and the regulator per the manual.
- Do a key-off drain test with an ammeter if the battery dies when parked.
Tools and parts
- Multimeter
- 50A fuse or fusible link
- Voltage regulator
