Applies to: Club Car Carryall and other gas carts and utility vehicles

Symptoms

  • Engine revs but the cart slows on hills
  • Squeal from the clutches

Why it happens

A worn or glazed drive belt slips between the drive and driven clutches. Worn clutch parts and a governor out of adjustment add to it.

How to fix it

  1. Inspect the belt for glazing, cracks and width.
  2. Clean the clutch faces and check the drive clutch for wear.
  3. Check the driven clutch spring and ramps.
  4. Check governor and throttle cable adjustment per the manual.

Tools and parts

  • Drive belt
  • Calipers
  • Brake cleaner
