Ski-Doo ACE check engine and power loss in the cold: icing
Compartir
Applies to: Ski-Doo Tundra, Skandic and Expedition 600 ACE and 900 ACE
Symptoms
- Beeping, check engine light, power cuts in and out
- Runs slow or stumbles in deep cold powder
- Fault clears after the sled warms up or thaws
Why it happens
Snow and ice pack around the throttle, brake switch and sensors, so the engine computer sees a brake applied or a throttle fault and limits power. Water in fuel freezing in the lines causes stumbling too.
How to fix it
- Read the message or fault code on the gauge.
- Clear ice from the brake lever and switch, throttle lever and air intake.
- Let the sled thaw indoors and check connectors for water.
- Use fuel line antifreeze or treatment in cold weather.
Tools and parts
- Fuel treatment
- Dielectric grease
