Yamaha Raptor 700 stalls when you stop: idle and throttle body
Compartir
Applies to: Yamaha Raptor 700 / 700R (EFI)
Symptoms
- Dies when you let off the throttle or come to a stop
- Worse when hot
- Hunts or surges at idle
Why it happens
Idle speed set too low, a dirty throttle body, or a sticking idle system lets the engine stall when the throttle snaps shut. Air leaks at the intake boot do the same.
How to fix it
- Check and set idle speed to the manual spec with the engine warm.
- Clean the throttle body bore and plate.
- Inspect the intake boot and clamps for cracks or leaks.
- Check for fault codes and reset the throttle position sensor per the manual.
Tools and parts
- Throttle body cleaner
- Tachometer
- Intake boot if cracked
