Argo won't turn sharply: steering brake adjustment
Partager
Applies to: Argo Avenger, Xplorer, Conquest and other skid-steer amphibious ATVs
Symptoms
- Wide, lazy turns
- Steering levers travel too far
- One side turns better than the other
Why it happens
Argos steer by braking one side. As the brake pads wear, the steering linkage needs adjustment, and worn pads or glazed discs reduce turning force.
How to fix it
- Check steering lever free play against the manual.
- Adjust the steering brake linkage evenly on both sides.
- Inspect brake pads and discs; replace worn parts.
- Check transmission oil level, as low oil affects the steering differential.
Tools and parts
- Wrenches
- Brake pads
- Transmission oil per manual
