Can-Am Maverick overheating at idle: radiator and fan
Partager
Applies to: Can-Am Maverick, Maverick X3 and Maverick Sport/Trail
Symptoms
- Temperature climbs when idling or crawling
- Overheat warning and limp mode
- Fan doesn't kick on, or runs weakly
Why it happens
Mud and debris pack the radiator, and a weak or failed fan, fan fuse or relay leaves no airflow at low speed. Air trapped after coolant work adds to it.
How to fix it
- Wash the radiator from the back side out.
- Check the fan fuse and relay, then power the fan directly to test it.
- Check coolant level cold and bleed air per the manual.
- Check the temperature sensor if the fan never switches on.
Tools and parts
- Garden hose
- Multimeter
- Coolant
